A lot of front yards have dead space right next to the house - old rock beds, bare dirt, nothing you'd actually want to spend time on. That's exactly what we were working with here. The goal was to turn that unused area into a real outdoor space the homeowner could actually enjoy.

We installed a raised stone porch and patio using large-format pavers in a mixed pattern, framed out with a darker border and a lighter accent edge. That combination of tones and textures gives the finished surface a really clean, structured look without feeling overdone. The raised section near the door ties in with a stacked block retaining wall along the front face - solid construction that also doubles as seating or a place to set things down.

We also cleared out the old rock that was there before and seeded the surrounding areas with straw cover to get grass established. That part matters more than people think. A beautiful patio sitting next to a rough, neglected yard doesn't finish the job - the whole area needs to come together. Getting the ground seeded and covered gives it the best shot at filling in clean.

Details like the two-toned border pattern and the raised step up to the door aren't just visual choices - they define the space and give it structure. That's the difference between a patio that looks like it was just dropped in and one that looks like it belongs there. Our hardscaping and landscaping work is always designed to make the whole yard feel intentional, not pieced together.

End result is a front outdoor space that went from nothing useful to something the whole family can actually use. A good patio adds real livable square footage to your home - it just happens to be outside.
