This Muskegon property needed a full reset. Overgrown shrubs had taken over, the beds looked tired, and the backyard didn't have much going on. The homeowner wanted something that looked intentional - clean lines, low-maintenance materials, and plantings that actually fit the space.
We started by pulling out the overgrown shrubs that were cluttering things up. That alone opened the yard up significantly. From there, we redesigned the front beds with fresh plantings and a deep mulch install to give everything a finished, well-kept look. The beds now have a defined edge that ties the whole front of the house together.
Out back, we went a different direction. River rock became the main material - laid along the fence line and around the perimeter to create a clean, low-maintenance border. We mixed in new plantings throughout to add some life and color without making it high-maintenance. The result is a backyard that actually looks designed instead of just thrown together.
What we like about this setup is how little ongoing work it requires. Rock doesn't break down or wash away, the mulch suppresses weeds up front, and the plants we selected are well-suited for the space. It looks good now and it'll keep looking good without a ton of effort from the homeowner.
A well-planned landscape does two things - it makes a home look sharp and it makes yard maintenance easier. Both of those things happened here. Front to back, this property is in a completely different place than when we started.
